CHASING

Characterizing source properties of NW Bohemia/Vogtland earthquake swarms exploiting novel network and waveform processing tools.

CHASING combines machine-learning microearthquake detection, waveform clustering and moment tensor inversion to distinguish tectonic fault activation from fluid- or magma-induced seismicity.

Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within SPP 1006 / ICDP, including my own position and student support.

2025–present · Scientific Coordinator

ELISE

Eger Large-N International Seismic Experiment.

A cross-border deployment of approximately 300 temporary stations across Germany and Czechia. ELISE investigates the origin, dynamics and hazard potential of earthquake swarms and their relationship with crustal fluid and magmatic processes.

I initiated and coordinate the multidisciplinary experiment and international consortium, field operations and end-to-end dataset quality control.

Tracking pre-eruptive processes and shallow intrusions using source mechanisms, deformation and seismic ambient noise.

Studying earthquake nucleation, complex fault networks and landslide signals through seismic, field and remote-sensing data.
